Our first batch (apples) is running now! I’ve read so many manuals and postings and watched so many YouTube videos that my head is swimming. We did not set custom times. Question: When the FD gets into the final drying cycle, what will I see on the screen? Do I need to be around when it stops? I understand it will beep, but the FD is in the basement garage, where we are not. Is it a problem to leave it for hours after that before releasing the pressure and removing the food?

The touch pad units make a little sound when completed, but not very loud and there is no volume control. I would set a timer once the final dry cycle starts, you won’t her th ebeam if you are standing right next to it though so use a kitchen timer.
The clock is counting up concerning how long the food has been in the unit. The count down is on the screen below. That is IF you started with a custom time instead of the default, and pressed “Start custom” instead of “Done”. If the final drying cycle is on, and it is going to end during the night, add enough hours to the drying cycle to finish when you will be up to tend to it.
